In my process I utilize tree holes and hollow tree sections from downed trees. These pieces of wood usually disintegrate or become firewood. As they travel through my studio they are transformed. Often these holes or cavities allow a passage into an inner world to be explored. Here I create imagined or more natural objects. Not only will the viewer be transported but the creatures themselves may appear to be on the move, traveling, ready to explore. A tree is in constant transformation. From season to season, from seedling to mature….until the end of its life. My work gives fallen trees the chance to transform one final time to become creations in my world. I welcome you to transport yourself through the passage I have created and explore the inner world.
