The time I spent working in a shipyard when younger made a long-lasting impression that has affected me throughout my artistic life. As a professional painter in watercolor, oil, mixed media, and collages, I felt I needed more; I wanted to create a 3-dimensional interpretation of my 2-dimensional work. I started to put together assemblages of wood figurines from found objects to satisfy my desire to work in 3-dimensions. It was still not enough. My art truly evolved once I revisited my love for welding and metal work by constructing mobiles and abstract metal sculptures for indoor and outdoor viewing. It has become my passion and is satisfying that need that I longed for.
