August 5, 2023 - September 3, 2023
August 5 through September 3, 2023
– full of or expressing feeling or emotion
– a presence that is timeless, reliably calm and detached from the daily drama that pulls us in many directions
– a character of inherent beauty and serenity
How do you express what feels soulful and right for you? How does your work tune into your own inner compass? Show us in sculpture at the LexArt Gallery in August.
Lexington Arts and Crafts Society Gallery
130 Waltham Street, Lexington, MA
Opening Reception – August 6, 2023 – 2 – 5pm
Cassandra Goldwater, currently Vice Chair of the LexArt Board of Directors. is an explorer of ideas and materials. As a metalsmith, she crafts jewelry that has often been called sculptural for its interplay between metal and stone. She uses photography to wrestle with current events and histories both personal and political. While many of her images combine found objects, she is also drawn to the interplay of the natural environment with her imagination.
Her photographs have been shown in the Curated Fridge, multiple Photography Ateliers, the Griffin Museum’s Members’ show, at the Davis Orton Gallery, a juried student show at the DeCordova Museum, SE Center for Photography, RI Center for Photographic Art, the Bedford Library juried show, and the Lexington Art Walk.
Goldwater has also worked with found objects and clay to create mythical figures and as social commentary. She hopes to incorporate images into mixed media sculpture as she continues to explore making.
Goldwater teaches composition at UMass Lowell and her commentary on the photographic work of Jennette Williams and Jellen van Meene appeared in the the Women’s Review of Books. A lifelong New Englander, she currently resides in the small city of Lowell, Massachusetts where it is rumored a renaissance is in the making.
