“Sculpture on the Hilltop” Includes Two by Chris Plaisted

Chris Plaisted just installed two sculptures: Wind in the Waves and OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR for Sculpture On The Hilltop at St. George’s School, Middletown, RI.

Wind in the Waves – Height: 56″, Width: 36″, Depth: 36″,  Materials: Steel

Wind in the Waves is part of a series inspired by fire, water, and various storms. The sculptures are symbolic in nature, and each has a compelling personality.

This piece is made of welded steel and is painted reflective blues. The details were cut from a 4″ x 8″ sheet of steel with a plasma torch, welded together, sandblasted, and then painted with various shades of blue to give it a shimmer in the light.

OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR – Height: 8′, Width: 4′, Depth: 4′, Materials: Steel

OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR is a tongue-in-cheek large-scale abstraction of a pedestrian walking sign and the writing in your rearview mirror.
