The Trustees of the Reservation and the New England Sculptors Association partnered for a 6-month outdoor sculpture exhibition at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate. Spirit of Place exhibition included 32 pieces created by New England’s finest sculptors and placed in gardens, along woodland paths, and alongside historic landscape features.
Castle Hill on the Crane Estate is a National Historic Landmark owned and cared for by The Trustees. It is the former summer estate of Chicago industrialist Richard T. Crane, Jr. and his family. Each summer, from 1910–1949, the Crane family entertained guests on this magnificent property that featured gardens, a saltwater swimming pool, a maze, and the Grand Allee—a ½ mile long rolling lawn lined with hedgerows and statuary.
Exhibit Dates May 18—November 11, 2019
