Terrestrial Horizon by Chris Plaisted was installed in early August in Lake Elkhorn, Maryland, as part of the ARTsites sculpture show.
ARTsites takes artwork out of our galleries and places it in public spaces across Howard County. Each year we select 12 new sculptures, which are installed in August and remain in place until July of the following year.
Terrestrial Horizon is a striking, bright yellow sculpture of steel. Its vibrant color stands out against the backdrop of the greenery and sky, symbolizing hope and creativity. The elongated forms and delicate curves contrast sharply with the vastness surrounding it, effectively conveying the theme of human insignificance in the grand cosmos. As viewers approach, they are reminded of their smallness in the universe, evoking a sense of wonder and introspection about their place within the infinite expanse
