Three More Sculptures Installed by Chris Plaisted

Wind in the Waves – Knoxville, TN as part of their Dogwood Arts’ Art in Public Places Program.
Height: 6.5′, Width: 3′, Depth: 3′, Materials: Steel

Wind in the Waves is part of a series inspired by fire, water, and various storms. They are symbolic in nature, and each has a compelling personality.

Perception #2 – Liberty, MO as part of their Rotating Sculpture Program.

Height: 8.5′, Width: 4′, Depth: 4′, Materials: Stainless Steel

Perception # 2 is a welded stainless steel sculpture. It invites the viewer to question perception: according to the viewer, it may be looking at the viewer, or the viewer may be looking at it. The viewer is aware of the environment’s elements through physical sensation. Meanwhile, they are also aware of the possibility of being looked at by the eye of the piece. The piece can be narrowly construed as a mere eye, which anyone can see from a mere glance at the piece. Or it can be broadly construed as a question of worldly perception: do we agree to be watched, want to be watched, need to be watched, and so on? Perception # 2 is therefore a thought-provoking acknowledgment of what sight and the mind are capable of beholding.
