mixed-media
John is a visual artist currently based in Rhode Island. He was raised in the small town of Oakham, Massachusetts as a free-range child. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin, with concentrations in painting, lithography, and photography. After college he moved back to New England where he continues to create and show his artwork. John has exhibited at several museums and galleries including the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain CT, the Target Gallery in Alexandria VA, the 440 Gallery in Brooklyn NY and the 4Heads Portal: Governors Island exhibition NYC.
John uses imagery from various sources to create art with a mildly absurd social commentary. He likes to think of his art as an inoculation for his fellow human beings to help them resist any misguided social norms they encounter, and to help himself continue to resist them as well.
